Integrating Information Technology through Open Standards

5th April 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

This Wales Audit Office webinar will share how Open Standards can enable better integration of public services.

Open Standards make it easier for systems to work together and exchange data. They can help public services to integrate, collaborate and take a long term view of procurement and public service delivery. These are three of the five ways of working that are at the heart of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act.

This webinar from the Good Practice Exchange at the Wales Audit Office will share how Open Standards can enable better integration of public services.

The webinar, which takes place on 5 April, will look at how Open Standards can make it easier for systems to work together and exchange data. They can help public services to integrate, collaborate and take a long term view of procurement and public service delivery. These are three of the five ways of working that are at the heart of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act.

Information Technology departments across public services have traditionally purchased proprietary software. The obscure output formats from these systems often result in organisations being locked-in to contracts. These formats also make it difficult for systems to integrate, which will be vital as public services come together under the auspices of Public Service Boards.

Walking away from this webinar, delegates will have a better understanding of how Open Standards can be put into practice, as well as being able to relate them to their work and effective public service delivery.
