Laura Fear currently works as a Volunteer Coordinator at the
Wales Millennium Centre and was recently awarded a Special Recognition Award at the Cardiff Volunteer Awards 2021.
See below was one of the many reasons Laura was nominated:
“Laura is extremely dedicated to the growing diversity of our programme and seeks new ways of working so that we can offer a place for all to gain experience in and to the arts. She is committed to giving people an opportunity to experience the arts and be a part of Wales National Arts Centre and seeks out different opportunities such as talks, outings, social gatherings and training sessions.”
Laura received seven nominations for the Volunteer Coordinator of the Year award category. Read below to learn more about Laura’s journey from volunteering to obtaining a job at the Wales Millennium Centre.
Laura started volunteering at the Centre in 2017 at the Wales Millennium Centre, as part of the Volunteering Scheme. This gave people an opportunity to learn more about the skills they can develop from volunteering. From there, Laura went on an unexpected journey and was able to volunteer in the front of house team and now two years later this is the team Laura now looks after. Laura was able to build a variety of skills from volunteering that enabled her to land a job as a Volunteer Coordinator at Wales Millennium Centre.
“Volunteering opens doors and provides opportunities.” Laura Fear
