Important Changes to the Code of Fundraising Practice

The Fundraising Regulator https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk established in 2016 with the aim to rebuild public confidence in the fundraising that is undertaken by charities based in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  As a regulatory body it holds the Code of Fundraising Practice and ensuring that fundraising is respectful, open, honest and accountable to the public. It has published important changes to 6 key areas of the Code of Fundraising Practice; please follow this link for more information on these changes:

The Code covers areas such as trustee responsibilities, nature of fundraising asks and fundraising from people in vulnerable circumstances. Fundraising Preference Service (FPS) is a website-based service that can help members of the public control the communications they receive from charities was launched in July 2017. It gives members of the public the opportunity to ‘opt-out’ of direct marketing contact from any registered charitable organisation of their choosing; https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk/the-fundraising-preference-service/    

Charities, by making a public commitment to the Code, will be allowed to use the ‘Registered with the Fundraising Regulator’ badge on communications – reassuring donors of their commitment to best practice and responsible fundraising. This is easily done through registering your commitment to the Code with the Fundraising Regulator and payment of an annual £50 administration charge.
