To give an introduction to safeguarding that will increase participants’ knowledge and understanding of their safeguarding responsibilities and where to find further information.

Content

Welsh Government has said that “Safeguarding is everyone’s business”, while the Charity Commission has stated that “Safeguarding is a key governance priority” for charities. Safeguarding should be a priority for all third sector organisations, and especially those that work with children, young people and adults at risk. Good and appropriate safeguarding provides public reassurance about your organisation and contributes to the positive reputation of the third sector in general. 

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course participants should be able to:

• Consider their safeguarding practice to prevent harm, abuse or neglect to the people in their organisations
• Develop or revise their safeguarding policy
• Understand the legislation that underpins safeguarding in Wales
• Know where to find a wider range of safeguarding resources
