Message from the U.K. GovernmentAs you may be aware, following the publication of the most recent child poverty statistics in June, the U.K. Government committed to a consultation on better measures of child poverty. The consultation was launched by The Rt. Hon. Iain Duncan Smith MP, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, and the Rt. Hon. David Laws MP, Minister of State (Schools). A link to the consultation document can be accessed at:
There is a free consultation event on Tuesday 29 January, which has been organised with the support of Children in Wales – Plant yng Nghymru. The U.K. Government spoke to children, young people, charities and local child poverty leads to inform its consultation document and wants to continue to work with you throughout the consultation, ensuring it captures what it really means to live in child poverty. The U.K. Government also knows that there is a wealth of knowledge and conviction to fight child poverty in the UK, spanning local leaders, charities and social enterprises.
If you are able to attend the consultation, please RSVP to [email protected] by 22 January. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
