Introduction
Equality for disabled people may mean changing the way in which an employer’s provisions, criteria or practices are applied to individual disabled workers, removing physical barriers and/or providing extra support for a disabled worker. The duty to make reasonable adjustments, as required the Equality Act, aims to make sure that, as far as is reasonable, a disabled worker is not substantially disadvantaged compared to a non-disabled persons. When the duty arises, an employer is under a duty to take reasonable steps to remove or reduce or prevent the disadvantage a disabled worker or disabled job applicant faces.
