Stakeholder Session Registration – Anti-Racist Mental Health Framework – 9 July 2026 – Fill in form

The March roundtable brought together stakeholders to explore the barriers faced by Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities in accessing mental health services. This included sharing findings from EYST Wales’ Do You See My Trauma report, alongside group discussions focused on three key themes. The session also marked an initial step towards developing a shared vision for change. A summary of the discussion is attached for reference.

What we heard clearly is that the current system is falling short. There are significant gaps in culturally competent care, and services do not consistently adopt trauma-informed or rights-based approaches. The session also highlighted a set of core principles that must underpin meaningful change to improve outcomes in Wales.

What happens next

We are now progressing this work by developing a framework that brings together evidence and clear, practical recommendations for change.

This framework will :

  • Provide clear direction for Welsh Government on what needs to change, identifying priority areas for action
  • Align with the Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan (ArWAP), ensuring consistency with existing commitments and priorities
  • Set out steps for implementation, moving beyond recommendations to explain how change can be delivered

Our aim is to create something that is not just a set of ideas, but a framework that drives real change.

This work is being delivered in partnership between Diverse Cymru and EYST, supported by Mind Cymru and the Wales Alliance for Mental Health (WAMH).

Further details, including joining information, will be shared upon registration.
