National Assembly for Wales #Wales2016 launch event
Dame Rosemary Butler AM, Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales, invites you to the launch of the #Wales2016 voter awareness campaign.
Every year, around £16 billion is spent in Wales, on things that affect your day to day life, like health and education. Decisions about these things are made here – in Wales, for Wales.
Yet, in the 2011 Assembly election, only 41.5 per cent of the country turned out to vote. The #Wales2016 campaign is being launched to encourage the people of Wales to register and turn out to vote on 5 May 2016.
This event, which will be delivered in partnership with NUS Wales, Youth Cymru and the Electoral Commission, is an opportunity for community leaders in Wales to learn about the Assembly election, how to register to vote and to discuss why it’s important to participate in the democratic process.
It is hoped that you will take this message back to the communities you represent and act as advocates for the importance of participation in the Assembly election in May 2016.
To RSVP, please contact@assembly.wales or call 0300 200 6565 by 18 January 2016.
