Impact of the waiting times backlog on people in Wales who are waiting for diagnosis or treatment

We published our report on 7 April 2022.

The Welsh Government is due to respond to our recommendations in May.

Mental health inequalities

As part of our inquiry on mental health inequalities, we held scene-setting oral evidence sessions with mental health organisations and the Children’s and Older People’s Commissioners on 24 March 2022.

These sessions drew on the written evidence we received from more than 90 people and organisations, and the focus groups we held with almost 80 people who have lived experience of mental health inequalities.

You can find out more about this inquiry, and what we’ll be focusing on next, in our blog post.

Pre-appointment hearing: Chair, Citizens’ Voice Body for Health and Social Care

We held a pre-appointment hearing with the Welsh Government’s preferred candidate for this role, Professor Medwin Hughes, on 28 March 2022.

We published our report on 30 March 2022.

Hospital discharge and its impact on patient flow through hospitals

We finished taking evidence on 24 March 2022 with a session with the Minister for Health and Social Services and the Deputy Minister for Social Services.

We will publish our report in the summer term.

Women and girls’ health

We held a one off session on women and girls’ health on 10 March 2022, exploring the evidence for a women and girls’ health plan and what it should include.

We wrote to the Minister for Health and Social Services on 25 March 2022 to highlight key issues raised during the session.

UK COVID-19 Inquiry

On 1 April 2022, we wrote to the Chair of the UK COVID-19 inquiry and the First Minister to set out our views on the Inquiry’s draft terms of reference.
