This is to let you know about a project ‘Volunteering Framework for health and social care in Wales’ and to ask for your support.
This project aims to work with key stakeholders to co-produce a framework that supports sustainable integration of volunteering across mainstream health and care settings. The project is funded from the Welsh Government Coronavirus Recovery Grant for Volunteering 2020/21 and is a partnership comprising Helpforce Cymru/WCVA, Social Care Wales, Bevan Commission and Richard Newton Consulting.
Survey
We are circulating the survey in order to establish the nature and scope of volunteering in relation to health and social care and identifying where there is strategic potential for development and impact.
The survey data will be collected and analysed by Richard Newton Consulting on behalf of the project. Personal data will not be shared with third parties.
We would be grateful if you could champion this in your own environment and circulate as widely as possible whilst also endorsing its importance. The links are

The survey includes information about how to book onto the focus groups.
Focus groups
These are online group conversations – based in the seven regions – which will enable attendees to share their views and experiences of how volunteering currently contributes to health and social care services and how this could be developed in various ways.
Please can you identify who you think should take part – which may include commissioners, planners, managers, organisers, volunteers – and let them know, or we can send a personal invitation. The dates for the focus groups are listed below.
Research/other projects
Any reports, examples /case studies of best practice, which you feel the project should be aware of can be sent to dorothyh@richard-newton.co.uk.
We want to link up with other projects funded by the same Coronavirus Recovery Grant for volunteering, in order to share learning and prevent duplication of work. We aim to have an online meeting in Mid-March with people leading these projects.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any comments, suggestions, queries or questions.
