Following on from the previous successful phase of the Long Forest project, Keep Wales Tidy, in partnership with The Woodland Trust, will be submitting a proposal to National Lottery Heritage Fund to extend the project to urban locations in Cardiff, Caerphilly, Neath Port Talbot and Wrexham. Along with the bid, Keep Wales Tidy are inviting organisations to provide a letter of support.
The project will be focused in areas of deprivation, urban/peri-urban locations and places with limited nature and/or lacking habitat connectivity. It will enable people who need nature most to get involved, and the support, tools, materials, supervision and training provided by partners means that no previous experience is needed.
This next phase of the project aims to increase the diversity of individuals, schools and organisations involved. We will run a development phase for 1 year to enable us to design all activities to be as inclusive as possible, firm up specific locations, finalise volunteer activities, training course content etc. Then run a 3-year delivery phase where the practical activities and participant training programme to protect and improve local habitats will be delivered.
We would really value your input in helping us shape the activities to suit a wide range of participants and would love to hear your ideas on how the project could be designed and developed.
We would also be grateful if you could provide a letter of support for the Urban Long Forest application, which outlines why you think this work is important and how your organisation could benefit and be involved.
