South Wales Polices’ vision is to be the best at understanding and responding to our community. South Wales Listens is our new engagement platform and will be pivotal in us continuing to achieve this vision; Used by over 30 forces across the Country – South Wales Listens will allow us to engage with our seldom heard from communities due to its translation functionality which allows for translation into over 100 different languages, as well as using Origin data to ensure our database is representative of the communities we serve.
Members of our community are invited to sign up (either via the South Wales Listens website Home Page – De Cymru yn Gwrando (southwaleslistens.co.uk) or face-to-face with an Officer) to receive messages about crime, engagement events, appeals, prevention advice and general policing activity in their local area in a way that suits them.
South Wales Police understands that to maintain and enhance our Neighbourhood Policing service we must ensure we understand modern policing demands and respond effectively through early identification, intervention, prevention, and problem solving with partners and communities, and so the main aim of South Wales Listens initially will be to deliver a force-wide survey which will help us to better understand our communities and the issues that affect them most. Following on from this exercise, we will then be able to target our policing and engagement in a more effective way to meet the needs of our communities.
We are committed to maintaining our Neighbourhood policing service and are proud of our Neighbourhood policing achievements. We will continue to work hard to be the best in the country at understanding and responding to the needs of our communities.
