The Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services (CWVYS) is supporting the Royal Society for Blind Children’s project Access Unlimited.
We are doing this through promoting a free online training opportunity (with an option to register to attain accreditation) that aims to address equality, diversity and inclusion issues that affect vision impaired young people and that prevents them from accessing services and participating in community activities.
The sessions are available in both Welsh and English.
Aims/Targets
5 national youth organisations (open to both voluntary & statutory sectors) equipped to cascade training to
150 grassroots/local statutory organisations, with an overall
500+ staff and volunteers trained to support
190 vision impaired children and young people
Additional information
Financial support
CWVYS can administer a small fund (£6k per year) to enable organisations to make practical adaptations as identified by their local vision impaired young people.
Guidance and suppliers of accessible equipment can be requested at
[email protected].
Evaluation
Each participating organisation will be expected to complete an assessment which details their existing practice, desired outcomes and records successes.
