Positive Pathways programme awarding £35,000 in grants for projects developed by and for veterans.

Hafal’s Joining Forces initiative links armed forces veterans’ services in Wales, empowering them to share their knowledge and expertise with smaller organisations, and to deliver pans, and to deliver pan-Wales, joined-up, effective support to veterans.

A key part of our role is to promote the Veterans’ Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund Positive Pathways programme which will award fixed grants of £35,000 for projects developed by and for veterans.

Projects should aim to improve veterans’ mental health and wellbeing by getting veterans out and active. More information can be found here: https://covenantfund.org.uk/programme/positive-pathways/

An organisation that has recently benefited from the grant is Wintergreen UK. Winter-green used their grant to build a fantastic new garden for Woody’s Lodge in Mid and West Wales. CEO Wendy Scott was delighted to have got the garden up and running. She said: “Wintergreen UK were delighted to hear that we were successful in being a strategic partner with Hafal and gaining the grant from the Armed Forces Covenant Positive Pathways scheme.

“They are providing great support every step of the way and are always available by telephone and email for advice. As a very new organisation this is vital support for us.  We recognise that Hafal have a great reputation in the field of mental health and forge good partnerships with other charitable organisations and it is a pleasure to be on board to support military veterans’ mental health needs.”

To be eligible to apply, your organisation must be an Armed-Forces-supporting charity or CIC.  A full list of eligibility is available in the programme guidance. If you have received an award from an earlier round of Positive Pathways, there are additional eligibility criteria, so please do read the guidance carefully.

If you have ideas for this grant or know of anyone that would be interested and would like to talk it through or have help with your application then please get in touch with Finola Pickwell who is here to support you, she can be reached on 07970 435817 or here: finola.pickwell@hafal.org.
