On Saturday May the 9th Friends of the Earth will be hosting a special screening of the film “Sauvages”. This is taking place at Cathays Community Centre – Doors open at 6:30pm with the film starting at 7pm.
This is a PG-rated film about a young girl’s quest to rescue a baby orangutan from loggers in the Bornean jungle.
The film explores themes of deforestation and Indigenous land rights. The film may be interest to your group/organisation as it connects directly to global climate change, biodiversity loss, and ethical consumption – topics you may already campaign on and are inclusive of social justice and anti-colonial awareness.
This screening is part of Friends of the Earth ongoing Planet Over Profit campaign – pushing for a new UK law which would prevent deforestation and land grabs in international supply chains. There will be a Q&A following the screening – which we are hopeful you would like to attend and engage with!
