Play street scheme increase opportunities for children and families to play and be physically active. Play Streets is way to create safe, welcoming spaces for children to play close to home while bringing communities together.
Through the scheme people can apply for a temporary street play order to close your street to through traffic, for 2 hours once a month. Supporting children to play out together on their doorstep and for neighbours to get together.
- To make it easy for you and your neighbours to set up a Play Street, we will:
- Help with the application Provide a Street Play Kit, with all the equipment you will need to operate a Play Street safely.
- Visit your first session to provide guidance and support
- Provide a guide to risk assessment, recruiting stewards, liaising with drivers, answering questions about the scheme
