Out Of Area Inpatient Lived Experience – engagement being run by Caniad

The Mental Health Clinical Board is currently undertaking a review of its services, supported by an independent organisation (36 Degrees). As part of this, a key area being explored is the experience of individuals who have needed hospital admission but were placed out of area due to a lack of available beds locally.

Caniad, the lived experience service for the Mental Health Clinical Board, is looking to understand how many people may have relevant experience and would be interested in contributing to a future engagement on this topic.

We are particularly keen to hear from:

  • Individuals who have experience of being admitted to hospital and placed out of area
  • Carers, family members, or loved ones who have supported someone through this

The aim of this work is to better understand the impact of out-of-area placements and to help shape improvements to services moving forward.

If you feel this relates to your experience and you may be interested in taking part in a future engagement, please express your interest using the form below:

If you would like to find out more or have an informal chat before deciding, please feel free to contact the Caniad team:

Thank you for helping to ensure lived experience continues to shape and improve mental health services.

Many thanks,
Caniad Team
