The Newid project supports community groups and social enterprises better embrace the digital world. Its free a service funded by Welsh Government and is delivered via Cwmpas, Promo Cymru, and WCVA.
The world is changing and ‘digital’ has become part of our lives and our businesses whether we like it or not. To be more ‘digital’ is more than just social media, laptops, and websites – it’s about delivering your service in the most effective and efficient way while maintaining quality and impact. Technology simply provides the tools that can help you achieve this.
Newid has 3 elements: –
- WCVA provide events, training and factsheets.
- Promo Cymru provide training on how to make your service more efficient and effective.
- Cwmpas provide 1:1 coaching to help groups improve their digital involvement and awareness.
What does the Cwmpas 1:1 support entail?
A local Cwmpas Advisor visits your establishment (they are all ex-community workers), and will work alongside you to assess where your group could benefit from digital advice with regards to:
- Your digital presence (How you deliver your service and could it be improved by adapting a digital mindset?)
- Your communication (How you are perceived by the outside world (your social media/website), and how you communicate with stakeholders, community members, and funders better).
- Data Management (Can you improve on how you collect, store, and use information?)
- Technology Tools (Are there technology tools and software applications that can help you save time and money?)
- Training and Support (Is there any training or further support you require?)
The Advisor then creates a report with recommendations and referrals based on your discussions.
Ideally, you keep in touch with your Advisor on a quarterly basis to review any progress, but they are also on hand at any time for any further advice or questions.
