Month of Community – Dates for 2026

The Month of Community is coming up shortly in June and is a time for us to come together to celebrate everything that makes our communities great. 

From cheering volunteers, to helping our neighbours, raising awareness of loneliness, welcoming refugees and recognising carers, millions of people take part every year to say ‘thank you’. 

Below are the list of awareness days and campaigns taking place in 2026’s Month of Community: 

The Big Lunch, 5-8 June
Bring your neighbours together with a Big Lunch 

Neighbourhood Watch Week, 1-7 June
Support Neighbourhood Watch and get more active in your community 

Have a Grow, 6 June 
Our national celebration of all things community growing 

Volunteers’ Week, 1-7 June
Say thanks to all the amazing volunteers across the UK 

Great Big Green Week, 6-14 June
Celebrate community action to tackle climate change and protect nature 

Loneliness Awareness Week, 15-21 June
Raise awareness of loneliness and get people talking about it 

Carers Week, 8-14 June
Recognise the contribution unpaid carers make to communities 

Care Home Open Week, 15-21 June
An amazing week where thousands of care teams across the country connect with their local communities 

Refugee Week, 15-21 June
Celebrate the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary 

Windrush Day, 22 June
Commemoration of the sacrifices and contributions made by the Windrush Generation since their arrival to the UK 

The Great Get Together, 19-21 June
An initiative celebrating everything that unites our communities and shared humanity 

Small Charity Week, 22-29 June
Support small charities that make a huge difference every day
