The 2023 Minority Ethnic Communities Health Fair is taking place at City Hall in Cardiff on 4th October 2023, from 10am-3pm.

The purpose of the Health Fair is to support individuals from different ethnic backgrounds, become more aware of their own health needs and to enable health providers to improve their understanding of community health issues.

The theme this year is ‘Get Healthy! Get Stronger! Let’s get together to reduce health inequalities’.

This successful event is now in its thirteenth year and is chaired by Race Equality First. The planning committee is comprised of representatives from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, CAVAMH, C3SC, CCAWS, Diabetes UK Cymru, Diverse Cymru, Hindu Council Wales, Sight Cymru, The Mentor Ring, Eyst, Hayaat Women Trust, Muslim Doctors Cymru and Women Connect First.

Health organisations can sponsor the event and have a stand for £40 to provide information on services and health awareness initiatives to Minority Ethnic Communities in Cardiff. The event is always well attended and provides valuable engagement opportunities. Information on sponsorship and booking a stand is attached along with the evaluation report from last year’s event and a poster to share with your networks.

15.08.23 Update – We have now reached full capacity for the information stalls, with over 45 different organisations already booked to have an information stall on the day. The MEC Health fair steering group would like to thank all the interest generated amongst organisations and is now moving into the community promotion phase.  In addition to the information stalls, the provision of basic health checks, and physical activity workshops the event also provides an opportunity for community members to establish a dialogue with health professionals from different sectors on a Q&A session. At C3SC we are keen to engage with community groups representing the diverse ethnic communities in Cardiff to ensure the event is as accessible as possible. Please contact [email protected]if you want to discuss how to get involved in promoting the event and/or supporting community members to attend.
