Cardiff Metropolitan University is undertaking research that aims to explore the experiences and challenges faced by people from diverse ethnic communities in Wales in staying socially connected and active as they age. Practitioners who work with middle-aged and older adults at social, health care, leisure or third-sector organisations are invited to participate. The project will also develop a practitioner-researcher network, providing opportunities to learn from each other, connect, and collaborate on future funding applications.
Participants are invited to attend one or two workshops (depending on availability) with other stakeholders from their area. In these workshops, we will discuss the local situation in South Wales (mainly Cardiff and the Vale and Swansea) and how agencies and individuals can work together to create conditions that foster social connectivity and physical activity for people from diverse ethnic backgrounds. We will use systems mapping software to create systems maps specific to each area and overall for Wales.
The first online workshop is planned to take place before July 20th and will last for approximately 1 hour on Teams or Zoom.
