Free Gambling Awareness Sessions

Ara Cymru is a trusted partner of GamCare funded by GambleAware. We are the leaders in gambling interventions.  We have had a presence in South Wales since 2012 and in April 2019 were asked by GamCare to develop this service throughout Wales.

According to the Gambling Commission there are 28,000 problem gamblers in Wales with 97,000 at risk. The cost implications can be massive in terms of health and wellbeing as well as finances and resources. Research shows that for every one problem gambler up to 6-15 people can be affected. Ara Cymru recognises the impact of problem gambling on others who may be affected which is why our service is available to them.

Our service is specialised and referral is easy.  Those affected can self-refer by calling 0117 930 0282 , emailing [email protected]  or via our website www.recovery4all.co.uk   Support is given immediately with free tools and self-help guides followed by one-to-one counselling sessions.

Problem Gamblers do not raise their issues in general conversation, problem gambling needs to be put to them directly, as they often cover up their problem gambling.

We want to create a simple and quick referral pathway with your organisation to help you and those affected by problem gambling.

To help with this we are able to provide free gambling awareness sessions to you and your staff that will upskill in:

  • Understanding the issues of problem gambling
  • Having the skills and confidence to raise and discuss problem gambling with anyone
  • Having some simple tools that will help with this
  • Having a quick and easy referral pathway that will get treatment to those affected by gambling

Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me on [email protected] or telephone 07397 029018
