Transgender Awareness

Half-day training with Diverse Cymru

The aim of this workshop is to increase awareness of issues faced by Transgender people and reduce any fear or concerns when engaging with a person who is going through or has gone through transition to their correct gender.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Understand the difference between Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Biological Gender and Sexual Orientation
  • Understand why it is important to use appropriate and non offensive terminology
  • Assess the impact of stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination 
  • Challenge common myths and misconceptions about Transgender people 
  • Recognise the legal rights of Transgender people in employment and as customers.
  • Reduce and eliminate fear of employing Transgender People.
  • Understand the ‘Transition Pathway’, the importance of integration and employment, and how the well-being and health of a Transgender person may be affected.

This ½ day course costs £70 per attendee and includes refreshments, all course materials and a certificate of attendance.
