The Welsh Government review of the Supporting People Programme in Wales in 2010 made a recommendation that all Supporting People older persons accommodation services should be based on need and not on tenure. A task and finish group has developed a draft timeline for all Supporting People sheltered accomodation service providers to review their services.

As part of this review, the task and finish group intends to collect data about older people’s needs in the community. The new service models may mean that floating support services, which help older people maintain independence and prevent homelessness, may be available in the community.
