Effective Fundraising from Trusts and Foundations for BME Organisations

An Institute of Fundraising Cymru event

This will be a practical interactive workshop aimed specifically at BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethic) organisations.  It will focus on which Trusts and Foundations BAME organisations should be targeting and look at how they present themselves to give the best chance of success.

Carol Akiwumi, FInstF is a Consultant, Trainer, Entrepreneur and Inspirational Speaker with a passion for Truth, Diversity and Stewardship. With a background in financial services and the third sector, she is the Chair of Black Fundraisers UK and the Executive Director of Money4Youth, a Financial Literacy Programme for Children and Young People and a Fellow and Trustee of the institute of Fundraising.

By the end of the day, participants should be able to

  • Identify sources of data and research on grant making trusts and foundations in the UK and understand trends in giving – to whom and why
  • Use research efficiently to target which trusts are likely to support your cause
  • Produce a case for support in the appropriate format for your projects or activities
  • Understand the essentials of an effective application
