Anss Saleem is the winner for Young Volunteer of the Year at the Cardiff Volunteer Awards 2025!
At just 16 years old, Anss began to volunteer in two key roles: Patient Befriender and Youth Board Member with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Beyond individual patient interactions, Anss’ involvement in the Youth Board has had a broader community impact. By advocating for young voices in healthcare, he has contributed to service improvements that reflect the needs and perspectives of younger generations. His input helps ensure that future healthcare services are inclusive, forward-thinking, and responsive to the diverse needs of the community. Staff frequently refer patients to Anss, recognising his unique ability to build rapport and uplift those in need.
One staff member shared: “I hope you realise the positive effect you have on patients, especially of the older generation.”
Anss’ efforts have not only improved individual patient experiences but have also contributed to a more compassionate and inclusive healthcare environment.
A sincere thanks from the team at C3SC as we congratulate Anss on his extraordinary journey so far and for being a positive role model to young people for years to come.
