Case Study: Partnership with Grange Pavilion Begins

Following initial discussions, in November 2023 Grange Pavilion approached the team at C3SC to organise funder events in partnership. This partnership work has brought many benefits to both parties and the community, which will be further supported in 2024/25 by C3SC’s Third Sector Development Officers and Grange Pavilion’s Development Workers.

Grange Pavilion is a resident-led project in Grangetown, Cardiff known for transforming a former Council property into a bustling community space. Grange Pavilion aims to foster inclusivity and unity among its diverse residents, and hosts over 43 regular groups, and over 12 one-off activities weekly to address local challenges while promoting engagement, cohesion and empowerment.

C3SC attended a funding event at the venue last year to offer governance and funding advice to local groups, following which in response to positive feedback we organised a ‘Making Alliances for Better Funding Bids’ training day in the same spot in January 2024 which strengthened the partnership and encouraged local communities to work together and thrive. The course, which attracted 17 participants, included sessions on finding resources, identifying skills, gaps and opportunities, working with potential partner organisations, and ended with a very helpful Q&A session from The National Lottery and our team at C3SC.

Commenting on the partnership, Grange Pavilion said: “An an anchor charity, we provide essential support to regular groups, aiding them in becoming established charities in their own right. Our partnership with C3SC has been invaluable, offering training, expertise and guidance, empowering these groups to grow and thrive independently.
