Applying to the EU settlement Scheme
As you may be aware, EU citizens who want to live and work in the UK (with access to benefits, public services and healthcare, the right to study and rent accommodation) will need to make an application for settled/pre-settled status before 30 June 2021.
Newport Mind team are currently trying to reach out to EU nationals across Wales and support them with the application process (this service is free). If your service users have a wellbeing issue, have experienced domestic violence, or are older than 50, then they are entitled toreceive support from Newport Mind when making the application. They will provide step by step assistance to these people, who may not be aware that they must apply for settled/pre-settled status in the U.K. or who might lack the means to complete the applications.
The process requires access to a smartphone with Android 6.0 or above (you can’t currently apply using an iPhone) and also an internet connections. They can provide access to computers and an Android phone to complete the application. In addition, they can help applicants source the correct documentation needed for the application. Newport Mind also have access to a telephone interpretation service to assist those individuals who have difficulties understanding and speaking English.
