Winter Update: Supporting the Community
Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale is pleased to provide updates on its services and programs designed to support the local community.
Simplified Referral Process
Referrals for befriending or shopping support services can now be submitted securely online, ensuring swift processing and prompt support for those in need. Referral links:

LEAP: Local Energy Advice Partnership
The Local Energy Advice Partnership (LEAP) is a free service available to residents of Cardiff and the Vale, offering support to reduce energy costs. The program provides free energy-saving devices and referrals for funded energy-efficiency improvements.

Nail Cutting Service Update
The Nail Cutting Service now includes home visits for housebound clients across Cardiff and the Vale. The updated pricing is:
  • Clinic Visits: £22
  • Home Visits: £32
Discounted appointments may be available for clients receiving pension credit.
Referrals can be made via email at nailcutting@ageconnectscardiff.org.uk or by calling 02922 331113.
Clinic Locations:
  • Cardiff: Ely Caerau Hub, Grange Medical Practice, Llanrumney Library Hub, Splott Star Centre Hub, and others.
  • Vale: Dinas Powys, Barry, Penarth, Cowbridge, St Athan, and more.

George Hill Snook Grant
The George Hill Snook Grant provides financial support of up to £500 to Cardiff residents aged 60 or over for essential household items or aids to maintain a comfortable and independent lifestyle.
Eligibility:
  • Applicants must be aged 60 or older and reside in Cardiff.
  • Funding is available for essential items such as appliances, furniture, and mobility aids.
  • Applications must be submitted by a third-party sponsor, such as a social worker, healthcare professional, or representative from a third-sector organisation.
