Here is a message from BITC following thier Community Conversation event on Friday 8th December.

On Behalf of Business in the Community Cymru (BITC), thank you for taking the time to join us at our Community Conversation event in Butetown, sponsored by Wales & West Utilities, on Friday 8 December. There was a fantastic buzz throughout the whole event and we hope you had the opportunity to make some new contacts and start talking about how you could work together.  We love this feedback from attendees.

“Great to be in a room with lots of people I wouldn’t usually have a conversation with.”

“I gained confidence to approach businesses to ask for help.”

“Had no idea, until today, of the potential to work with some of the organisations who attended.”

BITC Cymru would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors Wales & West Utilities, panel members: Mark, Fiona and Reynette and Sheila for their comments and contribution to the event.  Thanks too to Carole and her team at Butetown Community Centre for hosting us and providing a great buffet.  It is great to hold our event in one of the hubs in the community.

The aim of the morning was to bring together different kinds of organisations and different sectors, all with an interest in working together and discussing issues and challenges.  There was great willingness with all sectors to work together.  However, it takes time to develop partnerships, so start small, have a realistic goal and build on it.  Be clear about what you want to get out of any relationship and look for mutual benefit.  Neither the voluntary nor private sector can do everything by itself and in isolation. However, successful collaboration requires a better understanding of each party and an understanding of what is possible.

With that in mind, I encourage you to strike while the iron is hot and the event is front of mind.  Reach out to turn your conversations into action and see our top tips below.  If you need further assistance, please contact us at [email protected].

Thank you again for your time. Please update BITC on any actions/support received following the event and connections made. We would like to collect examples of outcomes and to hear good stories of positive action.”
