Cardiff Council is pleased to announce that the Emergency Food Aid Grant 2025–26 is open to application.
This funding is available to support an increased number of people facing food poverty by strengthening existing community food initiatives and developing food focussed initiatives that help to address the root causes of food poverty across each authority.
This grant is a short-term fund aimed at enhancing and increasing existing provisions for tackling this issue across Cardiff. The grant is for capital and revenue costs to enable organisations to access, store and distribute additional supplies of good quality food.
Eligible purchases include (Revenue):
- Project costs i.e. Organising educational activities around nutritional food.
- Additional supplies of good quality food and essential goods, boosting their capacity to meet the needs of their customers
- Staffing and volunteer costs
- Volunteer expenses
- Training for volunteers (e.g. food handling qualifications)
Restricted/ineligible purchases include (Revenue):
- Fareshare subscriptions
Eligible purchases include (Capital):
- Kitchen Furniture e.g. – Kitchen Cabinets, Units, Worktops
- Fridges and freezers
- Cooking equipment e.g. – Cookers, Slow Cookers
- Kitchen equipment e.g. – Cutlery, utensils
- Storage for dried/canned goods
- Equipment to support the development of local food growing and distribution
