Coronavirus outbreak has sparked concerns around what rights someone has when it comes to sick leave or how employers should handle a situation at work if a staff member is affected by the virus.
The Acas Helpline has received an increase in calls about coronavirus, we have also seen significant traffic to our website relating to searches about Coronavirus. In response Acas has published new advice today to help employers and their staff understand their rights when it comes to handling the impact of Coronavirus at work.The advice includes guidance around sick leave, staff in quarantine and considerations for businesses in case they need to temporarily shut down.
Sick leave can cause major concerns for employers, we are therefore excited to let you know about our next free webinar, Running a company: managing sickness absence. Confused about how to manage sick leave for your staff? Wondering what the law is? Join Companies House and Acas for a joint webinar focused on managing sickness absence for those starting or running a company.

Acas will also be running a FREE roadshow for employers across Wales this Spring
We are looking to connect with local organisations in Wales to make sure they are fully aware of the support and services we provide.
This free to attend roadshow event will be an excellent chance for employers to meet with their local Acas adviser and better understand the range of services which Acas offers, many of which are free. It’s also an opportunity to network with other businesses from across the region.
Acas has recently supported the Welsh Government to help identify and develop key recommendations to deliver Fair Work Wales – an initiative aimed at treating colleagues respectfully whatever their role or status. These free sessions are a great opportunity to start thinking about your own organisational challenges, from recruiting and retaining the right employee talent, to improving your industries reputation as an Employer of Choice.
