Charity Commission workshop – Recently formed charities working in high risk areas internationally

11th May 2017 @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

Following the high demand for our last set of these workshops, the Charity Commission, the regulator of charities in England and Wales, is running a further series of events for recently formed charities working in high risk areas internationally, including where there may be conflict and/or political instability. By ‘recently formed’, we mean charities set up within the past 10 years.

The purpose of these events is to provide advice and guidance on legal requirements and best practice to charities operating in such areas, and discuss how to apply these practically in complex working environments.

The events are free to attend. Lunch, as well as tea and coffee, will be provided and certificates of attendance will be available for participants.

The following topics will be covered:
– Charity trustees and their duties in the context of international work
– Risk assessment of international work and due diligence when working with other organisations
– Monitoring and reporting the proper end use of charitable funds
– Moving and receiving funds safely in the UK and internationally
– Managing your charity’s reputation when working internationally

We are dedicated to making the events informative, relevant and interesting; therefore there will be opportunities for discussion and questions throughout the event.

Who should attend?
The event is specifically intended for trustees, managers, and others running recently-formed charities operating in high risk areas internationally.
