Join in the Everyone’s Future celebration
Everyone’s Future will celebrating the first year of its Big Lottery Funding at the Wales Millennium Centre on 23rd June 2013.
Everyone’s Future is a partnership project between Age Concern Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan and Vibe Experience, which aims to raise awareness of Age Discrimination and challenge negative stereotypes of older and younger people. Workshops have been delivered to nearly 2,000 older and younger people across Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan using films to break down stereotypes.
The Age Equality Workers have gathered opinions and stories about how representation of ages have affected of people’s lives. Negative images in the media of older and younger people and lack of communication between the generations have prevented the age groups from getting to know one another and seeing one another in a positive light.
The Everyone’s Future Event aims to showcase different community groups from across Cardiff and The Vale who involve younger and older people in a positive light. The aim of the event is to champion all the good work that older and younger people do!
The groups will perform on the Glanfa Stage throughout the morning from show choirs, to solo performers, poetry and sketches, it’s set to be an eclectic mix which will be fun for all the family. Information will be provided from the youth and older forums and age friendly activities will be available. There may also be some celebrity guests from hit ITV series Off Their Rockers and guest speaker Anna Buchanan, Director of Protection, Scrutiny and Human Rights has currently confirmed.
