Census data: Beyond 2011 event
What is Beyond 2011?
Beyond 2011 is the Office for National Statistics’ (ONS) programme to consider possible approaches to meeting future user needs for small area and socio-demographic information in England and Wales. This is essentially reviewing what is currently produced by the Census and evaluating its use to help develop the approach needed.
Why does this affect you?
Improvements in technology and administrative data sources offer opportunities to modernise the existing Census approach. As a result some information may not be collected unless it is made clear the benefit that it brings.
The ONS and Welsh Government are working together to determine the user needs in Wales. They have been asked to support this work to ensure wide engagement within the public sector in Wales. They believe that this will differ from the needs in England due to the increased partnership working in Wales in relation to Local Service Boards and Single Integrated Plans.
This free Welsh public sector engagement event will give you:
· an overview of the Beyond 2011 programme;
· an outline of the options currently available; and
· an opportunity to participate in workshop sessions to help us understand how Census data is being used in Wales.
Who should attend?
We need to hear from anyone that uses Census data to understand how small area data is used locally in Wales and how it adds value. You should be able to explain precisely why the data is being used, how often, in what form and at what geographical level. The workshop sessions will help you explain the benefit of this data being available to you.
Registration process
If you would like to register for the event please complete the form on the Data Unit Wales website by 15 March 2013.
