St John Cymru are running a campaign in February called Defibruary where we are running our free, 2-hr Public Access Defib Awareness courses.

Every year there are around 8000 people in Wales that experience out of hospital sudden cardiac arrest. A cardiac arrest occurs when the heart stops beating effectively and normal breathing ceases. This results in the casualty becoming unresponsive and urgent intervention is required. The chances of survival are greatly increased when an AED is applied.

The short awareness session will take you through how to access and use a public access AED and will teach you how to administer CPR. Our courses also help provide you with the knowledge and confidence you need to deal with an emergency situation.

Who is it for?
The course is suitable for anyone over the age of 7.
No previous first aid experience required.
This course however is not suitable for those responsible for using a defib in the workplace – for workplace training we would recommend the full
AED training course which can be found here https://training.stjohnwales.org.uk/course/AEDC/

What will you learn?
• Assess an incident
• Treating an unresponsive casualty
• Recovery position
• Resuscitation
• Awareness of the use of an AED

How do you book?
