Are you interested in and want support in using research to understand your community better or to inform your work? Anna Skeels at SPARK tells us how they can help.

NEW WORKSHOPS

SPARK, the new social science research park at Cardiff University, is working with Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA), Cardiff Third Sector Council (C3SC) and other members of a Third Sector Research Partnership, to deliver a second round of research workshops for Cardiff-based organisations in November this year.

If you are a small to medium-sized voluntary sector organisation (e.g., a charity, community-based organisation, social enterprise) and have been operational in Cardiff for at least two years, this could be for you.

The workshops will help you to reflect on your organisation’s activities, explore and map out your research needs and think about how research can help to meet your organisation’s objectives.

FURTHER SUPPORT

Such activity could then lead to further support from academics in Cardiff University on research design, methods, applications for research funding, or even a student on placement with you to undertake some research.

It could also enable us to connect you with existing relevant research findings. Access to such research could support more evidenced-based practice or a chance for you to steer the direction of future research.

Overall, our aim is that such collaborations will contribute to longer term research relationships between voluntary sector organisations and the University.
