The current Adult Services Safeguarding Programme for 2026–2027 provided by Cardiff Council Social Care Development and Training Team has now been published and can be accessed here. External colleagues, including staff and volunteers from third sector organisations may book via Learning Pool, with guidance also attached below:

- How to book onto a course (Social care)
- How to nominate staff for training
Managers who are experiencing challenges in releasing staff to attend scheduled sessions may request a bespoke delivery of Safeguarding Adults Group B/ Level 2. Bespoke sessions may be delivered within your service, subject to the availability of a suitable training environment.
To ensure that safeguarding training is delivered appropriately and in line with professional expectations, the training venue must:
- Provide a confidential, private, and uninterrupted space.
(For example, it would not be appropriate to deliver safeguarding training within care home communal areas or spaces that form part of residents’ living environments.) - Be fit for purpose, with adequate ventilation, seating, and a layout that supports participation and reflective discussion.
- Be equipped with the required technology – A large display screen with HDMI or Bluetooth connectivity, and appropriate tables and chairs for all participants.
In addition, Train‑the‑Trainer delivery can also be arranged upon request. Staff put forward for Train‑the‑Trainer must be suitable for the role, demonstrate ongoing stability and longevity within their position, and be able to undertake the responsibilities associated with delivering safeguarding training to others. Staff nominated for Train‑the‑Trainer must also possess a sound understanding of safeguarding legislation, policy, and local procedures, alongside the confidence and communication skills required to facilitate learning, lead reflective discussion, and appropriately manage sensitive or complex subject matter. They should be able to model good safeguarding practice and demonstrate the professional judgement necessary to support others in applying learning to their roles. This is to ensure that practice remains consistent and aligned with organisational expectations and national safeguarding standards.
