C3SC and Cardiff & Vale Credit Union are working with the Living Wage Foundation to encourage third sector employers to pay the living wage and to sign up for accreditation. The Real Living Wage is a campaign that started in 2011 to persuade employers to pay their employees a living wage that covers the real cost of living, and accreditation has proved a powerful means of encouraging other employers to sign up. We know many third sector organisations are committed to paying their workers a living wage, contributing to a fairer more inclusive society, and we are working with the Living Wage Foundation to develop information to both support employers in the sector to understand the benefits of paying the wage and to make it easier to accredit.
Cardiff & Vale Credit and C3SC were among the first local third sector employers to become accredited, and found the accreditation process straightforward, and received positive feedback amongst staff. C3SC and the credit union are happy to share their experience with others who may be considering accreditation.
Accreditation can lead to improved reputation for your organisation, resulting in improved recruitment and retainment, along with better staff financial wellbeing. Cardiff Council is offering financial support to Cardiff businesses of up to £720 if they become accredited Living Wage employers by 31st March 2022. If you are an accredited third sector employer who would be interested in sharing your story and what the Living Wage has meant to your staff, then please contact us – email enquiries@c3sc.org.uk.
If you would like to find out more about the Living Wage and Accreditation, or if you have experienced challenges with signing up or accrediting, we’d also love to hear from you. Please email enquiries@c3sc.org.uk or telephone 07973 725 335
