Cynnal Cymru – Sustain Wales are delighted to be offering 120 free places on their Nature Wise Urban Eco-literacy course to anyone who works or volunteers with a community group or voluntary organisation in the areas along the GWR mainline – Swansea, Neath, Port Talbot, Bridgend, Cardiff and Newport.
Nabod Natur – Nature Wise is an online learning programme which teaches how the natural environment works, the threats it faces, and how we can all help nature thrive, even in urban settings.
Participants will learn how nature works and about the threats it faces. They will also develop action plans for themselves or their groups, using their knowledge for the benefit of wildlife and habitats.
10 courses will run from October 2022 to March 2023, with participants joining two online sessions with a total time commitment of 5 hours. Those successfully completing the course will be awarded a certificate.
Previous Nature Wise attendees from all walks of life have reported how the course has provided them with motivation to build nature-recovery actions into their daily lives. It also provides the confidence to share insights and knowledge about the nature crisis with those around them. A volunteer from Hendy Nature Trail explained how the course had given her “great insight and thirst for how I need to advocate for nature and conservation” whilst a WI Climate Change Ambassador was “excited to share all this wonderful knowledge with members to encourage them to be more nature-friendly”.
The free places are available thanks to funding from Great Western Railway Community Fund.
