Food insecurity is an increasingly major issue for local communities, with levels of poverty and deprivation are likely to increase further with the cost-of-living crisis and as the pressures of winter and other new challenges arise.
As the number of people facing food poverty increases, this fund aims to support established third-sector community food initiatives experiencing difficulties in meeting the needs of their service users. The grant will support established food distributors to access, store and distribute additional supplies of food/essential goods in the face of emerging challenges – such as purchasing of stock as donations dwindle and FareShare is increasingly stretched.
The Programme is open for applications from Friday 25th November 2022 with a deadline for submission of 12 noon on Monday 5th December 2022.
Organisations can apply for a one-off, non-recurring grant of up to £2,000 for Capital costs and/or a maximum of £5,000 for Revenue costs.
All grant-funded projects will need to be delivered, and funding spent, by the 31st of March 2023
