Following the death of Her Majesty the Queen, the period of national mourning, and the decision to hold the state funeral on September 19th, Care & Repair Cymru, Age Cymru and Age Connects, supported by the National Prudent Healthcare Falls Prevention Taskforce, have decided to postpone Falls Awareness Week until October 3rd to 7th.
Falls Awareness Week 2022 is fast approaching, with Care & Repair Cymru, Age Cymru and Age Connects, coordinating activities for the week. It has been funded by Welsh Government for a publicity, media and social media public awareness campaign, and the use of National Prudent Healthcare Falls Prevention materials, to promote Steady on Stay Safe across public service networks. The central theme this year is again Have a conversation…and tackle falls risks, and they are engaging with Carers Wales as a principal partner, hoping that all past partners and supporters of their work will get involved as usual, to grow the falls awareness wave.
The idea of intergenerational work has been introduced this year and has approached both Older People’s and Children’s Commissioners teams to begin an approach that seeks prevention across the life course.
Specific resources will be used, provided as PDFs which we urge you to print out locally; the Risk-based Falls Prevention leaflets from last year; as well as a range of network resources, mini-films, animations and podcasts created by Swansea Bay Health Board, all to follow.
