Welsh Government consultation event
The Welsh Government is consulting on proposals for reform of the legislative framework for special educational needs (SEN). The proposals are supported by both the Minister for Education and Skills and the Minister for Health and Social Services.
The consultation was launched on 26/06/2012 and will close on 19/10/2012.
The current legislation is over 30 years old and there is evidence across Wales to prove the need for reform.
They are proposing to replace the statutory framework for the assessment and planning of provision for children and young people with SEN with a simpler more person centred and integrated system that will beneficial to all.
Practitioners and professionals are invited to attend, specifically to explore the multi agency approach proposed and the actual tools/process being developed. Lunch will be provided.
