Course Aims

To help you understand more about the issues affecting people with learning disabilities and how people and services can have a negative impact on their lives.

This Learning Disability Wales course will examine how services and society affect the lives of people with learning disabilities, and how to make this contribution a positive one.

You will be encouraged to examine your own perceptions and actions, as well as how your organisation works. You will have an opportunity to look at some practical tools you can use to involve and understand the real needs of those you work with.

 
Course includes
–  What a learning disability is
–  What can cause a learning disability
–  How staff contribute to isolation
–  How people can be fully involved in their community with support
–  The difference between what is “important to” and “important for” someone

 
Designed for:
Anyone playing a support or caring role for someone with learning disabilities.
