The charities Sorp consultation is now under way, with the recent publication of the exposure draft (ED). If you have not already seen it, or the related Invitation to Comment, the documents are available at www.charitysorp.org. 

The ED provides lots to think about: 

– Should charity accounts be more like commercial accounts?
– Could more be done to simplify the Sorp?
– Should the Sorp be a general guide or a technical standard?
– Is the ED a proper response to FRS 102?Old chestnuts – valuing volunteers, shop stock and legacies
