Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Awareness Day

Friends of Cardiff Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia invite you to their FREE conference, ‘Community Spirit in Crisis? Creating the potential for positive change’.
Themes include access to services by patients and family, screening for inherited anaemias, ethnicity and health, the importance to patients of services within the community, the role of the specialist nurse, commissioning of appropriate services.
Speakers include expert health professionals from University Hospital of Wales and Children’s Hospital for Wales, and internationally-recognised experts from elsewhere in the UK: Professor Karl Atkin University of York, Professor Simon Dyson De Montfort University, Dr Alison Leary London South Bank University and Dr Matthew Darlison University of London.

Programme chaired by Dr WM Bashi, Consultant Haematologist Cardiff&Vale UHB and Professor Elizabeth Anionwu, CBE, Emeritus Professor of Nursing, University of West London.
