Seated Physical Activities Training for Activities Co-ordinators

16th November 2015 @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

This Cardiff Council course is aimed specifically at activities co-ordinators and anyone involved in activities for people in residential care settings.

Continued physical movement is massively important to maintain flexibility, retain independence and encourage confidence. The workshops are specifically designed for care teams, volunteers and family members and are achievable yet fun. We believe that activity shouldn’t be the responsibility of one person and ensure our learners understand the importance of continued mobility for raised self-esteem and continued independence.  All our workshops are experiential so learners will be joining in rather than just listening to the trainer or reading paperwork.

  • Experience Seated Physical Activities (SPA) to improve wellbeing
  • Understand why maintaining mobility is essential
  • Explore health & safety when delivering activities
  • Learn a number of basic SPAs through practical experience
  • Explore a range of motivational techniques to encourage participation
  • Gain an understanding of the importance of keeping written records
  • Leave with a confident and positive attitude to this therapeutic activity!
