Rationale and Solutions: Delivering Services in Welsh for Children and Young People
A half-day workshop facilitated by Children in Wales
This workshop is designed for anyone delivering services to children, young people and families, who wish to reach and serve Welsh language speakers. The workshop will bring participants up to date with current legislation and the new proposed Welsh Language Measure 2010, and will look at where language rights fit into the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). It will provide the tools and ideas to address myths and arguments around Welsh Language provision and language use. It will also equip participants with ideas and tools for increasing their own provision, no matter what your current capacity may be.
The workshop will include:
Exploring children, young people and families’ language choices and developing services to meet their needs How to work with Welsh speakers in an appropriate way How to provide Welsh medium services with few staff and resources Identifying current and proposed Welsh language legislation
