Protecting Black and Minority Ethnic Children
This Children in Wales workshop will be facilitated by Dr Mwenya Chimba (BAWSO) and Dr Teresa de Villiers (Cardiff University) and considers a recent study that has been undertaken jointly by the organisation, Black Association of Women Step Out (BAWSO) and Cardiff University. The overall focus of the study was to look back at the number of children BAWSO have worked with who have been on the Child Protection Register with the aim of exploring patterns of registration, de-registration and ongoing social work support. There is some evidence that BME communities may be subject to inappropriate and inadequate intervention in the child protection arena.
The workshop content is intended to be of interest to frontline practitioners (both those in the statutory sector and those working with community groups), managers, training and development staff, and policy makers.Price: ÂŁ15
