The future of the NHS in Wales has never been more contested. There are unprecedented pressures on budgets, dire warnings about the unsustainability of the current package of services, and at the same time a general acceptance that we need to get the NHS, local government and individuals working together to improve the nation’s health. Against this backdrop, the Health Boards are proposing significant changes to the most high profile part of the service: the acute hospitals. Of all the areas of public policy in Wales, health is probably the most impenetrable for the non-specialist. Yet it is also the one which generates most concern.

This conference provides a space for interested lay people to get to grips with the evidence, opinion and argument, and make up their own minds about health policy.
